Day One:

Meet at Entebbe Airport on arrival or pick up from Kampala. Drive either through Kampala or take the back trip through Mpigi. Leave through the mist covered areas of Lake Victoria and the forests of Mpigi. Finally getting to the Uganda Equator for a brief stop to take pictures and stretch. Drive on good roads through the cattle keeping tribes grazing their Ankole cattle then proceed close to Lake Mburo. Close to the National park, opportunities abound to spotting Zebras and Impala along the main road. Later on, arrive in Mbarara in the early evening, proceed to have dinner and overnight at Emburara Lodge.

TRANSIT TIME 6 HOURS

Day Two:

Following breakfast, drive through the lush mountain scenery of Kigezi, seeing the agricultural gardens on top of Mountains. Alternatively, drive through the Ishasha plains of Queen Elizabeth and the Maramagambo. Populations of the chimpanzees and other monkeys of the forests appear along the road. Travel through the rain-forests of Karinzu and proceed to the Mountain Gorilla Sanctuary at Bwindi. The travel time of approximately four hours eventually ends with arrival for lunch.

The afternoon could then be spent on the village walk to the Batwa communities to learn about the culture of these former forest tribesmen. You could also take some guided walks as you spot unique birds of bwindi. These include blue fly catcher, snowy headed robin chat, black sawing and the Mackinon’s shrike. Black and White colubus as well as the Chimpanzees may be heard vocalizing across in the Impenetrable Forest. Drinks, then dinner and the night stay at The Mahogany Springs Lodge or similar

Day Three: Gorilla Watching Safari:

Morning breakfast and early start with the ranger guide and gorilla trackers. Our gorillas in the mist trekking starts from the park offices following a briefing by the wildlife authority guides. Trekking the gorillas is conducted in a group of 8 people and the walk will be determined by the pace of the slowest. The gorilla trackers finally find the gorillas and will communicate the location to the guides whop will find closest shortcut to the gorilla group.

The porters will then take the backpacks of lunches and drinking bottled water and will move to a short distance. You are the allowed to follow the silverback gorilla with his family members including babies, juveniles, black backs and sub adults.The gorilla visit is only one hour and ends with a bush picnic lunch before a return to the park offices and your lodge for dinner and overnight at The Mahogany Springs Lodge or similar.

A minimum of about a few minutes to over 8 hours of trekking, depending on where the gorillas are or the pace of the gorilla trekkers.

Day Four: Canoeing on Lake Bunyonyi.

After breakfast, drive through the Bwindi forests of ruhija where the the freshness of the forest comes alive with butterflies. Meanwhile, forest antelopes, blue monkeys and rivers attract Kingfishers and rare forest species of birds. We leave the gorilla mountains then proceed to the Lake Bunyonyi Mountain Tarn arriving for lunch at the Lodge. In the afternoon, you then sail to the Punishment Island on Lake Bunyonyi where pregnant, unmarried girls were abandoned. Have a relaxing boat ride and maybe see some cray fishing before having dinner and overnight at the bird nest Lake Bunyonyi Lodge.
